    13 pumpkinTHE PUMPKINS ARE COMING!

Those well-loved orange orbs will be delivered to LUMC at noon on Sunday, Oct. 2nd.  We need everyone’s help with unloading pumpkins that day and signing up for sales shifts beginning October 2nd. through October 31st.   Sign up to sell right now at http://www.signup.com (formerly Volunteer Spot).  The direct link to our page is http://signup.com/go/1NUn8c.  You may also sign up on the signup sheets on the portable bulletin board located in the Narthex after the 11:00 service or outside the Fellowship Hall at other times.

Have you always wanted to add being a pumpkin seller to your resume but have no sales training?  We can team you up with a veteran pumpkin sales volunteer.  The work is not hard and provides an opportunity to interact with the congregation and the local community  We will be selling baked goods again this year and we need volunteers to provide pumpkin bread or cookies.

The link for the bake sale is http://signup.com/go/ijFB2s

This is our 14th Annual Pumpkin Patch. All proceeds go to LUMC missions near and far.  Join in the fun and help with missions at the same time. We need everyone’s help in order to make this effort a success.  Questions?  Contact either Robert King (robertking13@cox.net or 640-0999) or Candace Delpino (cdelpino@nps.k12.va.us)

Thanks in advance for your continued support of this activity.

    Fall Red Cross Blood Drive

This is our last blood drive for 2016. Please consider taking time to donate on Weds. Oct 12 from 2-7 pm in the Social Hall. Appointments can be made via email at andrew.shepard1@cox.net or calling Traci Shepard 623-0863. Due to extensive wait times during the summer for walk in appointments, I strongly suggest getting a reserved time. Walk in appointments will be accommodated as quickly as we can but appointments take priority. Youth who need community service hours can contact me for details. Thank you very much to all of the donors who gave at our drives this year. I look forward to seeing you in October.

  • 8:45 a.m. – Worship Service

Our “early” service is a mildly abbreviated form of our 11:00 worship, but contains all the traditional elements of worship, with prayers, praise and singing.  This service is held in our newly consecrated Gwinn Chapel, located on Larchmont Crescent.

    9:45 a.m. – Emergent Worship Service

This service, held in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall, is Post-Contemporary and modern in musical style.  It brings together secular culture and the sacred to provide a vibrant, ever-changing, and always contextually relevant experience.  Be prepared to move.  All ages are welcome.

    11:00 a.m. – Worship Service

This traditional service features traditional liturgy, a message, and the music of our chancel choir and organ.

Communion is offered one Sunday a month.  The Lord’s Table is open to any and all; membership in the church is NOT required to receive communion.

Bible Verse of the Day

“For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” — Hebrews 10:30-31 Listen to chapter Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica. Powered by BibleGateway.com.
