    Pumpkin Patch Update

THANK YOU to everyone who helped with the unloading of the pumpkins last Sunday.  We were done in record time thanks to a great turnout and relatively good weather.

We now turn our attention to the selling of the pumpkins.  We really need a number of people to staff the Pumpkin Patch throughout the month of October.  The patch normally opens between 10 AM and 6 PM Monday through Saturday and opens from noon to 6 PM on Sundays.  The patch must close and does not generate income whenever we don’t have anyone to work a shift.  Please consider signing up for one or more 2-hour shifts this month.  The work is not hard and can be a great opportunity to meet members of the congregation that might be new to you.  You can sign up on the bulletin board located outside of the Sanctuary or Chapel or online at Volunteer Spot using this link:

We also have a need for baked goods to sell along with the pumpkins.  Pumpkin Patch customers are already asking for baked goods along with their pumpkins.  Please consider donating baked goods to be sold at the Pumpkin Patch.  All proceeds from the bake sale are retained by LUMC for support of local mission projects.  You can sign up to provide bake sale items on the Pumpkin Patch board or online using this link:  You can contact Faye Pyles at  or 339-3293 with any questions.

Thank you for your continued support of this year’s Pumpkin Patch.

Come roll up a sleeve and save a life. Walk-ins, welcome. Bring a friend!
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. Our Fall Red Cross Blood Drive is Wednesday, October 14th, from 2-7 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Appointments can be made by contacting Traci Shepard via

  • 8:45 a.m. – Worship Service

Our “early” service is a mildly abbreviated form of our 11:00 worship, but contains all the traditional elements of worship, with prayers, praise and singing.  This service is held in our newly consecrated Gwinn Chapel, located on Larchmont Crescent.

    9:45 a.m. – Emergent Worship Service

This service, held in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall, is Post-Contemporary and modern in musical style.  It brings together secular culture and the sacred to provide a vibrant, ever-changing, and always contextually relevant experience.  Be prepared to move.  All ages are welcome.

    11:00 a.m. – Worship Service

This traditional service features traditional liturgy, a message, and the music of our chancel choir and organ.

Communion is offered one Sunday a month.  The Lord’s Table is open to any and all; membership in the church is NOT required to receive communion.

Bible Verse of the Day
