8:45 a.m. – Worship Service
Our “early” service is a mildly abbreviated form of our 11:00 worship, but contains all the traditional elements of worship, with prayers, praise and singing. This service is held in our newly consecrated Gwinn Chapel, located on Larchmont Crescent.
9:45 a.m. – Emergent Worship Service
Emergent Worship emphasizes and is directed at evoking a physical response from the worshiper, one where we get up and do something. There are Emergent elements in Traditional Worship, such as taking Holy Communion and receiving Baptism. There is a call put out, and a physical response to come and do.
At Larchmont UMC, we utilize a full-on Emergent style such that every detail is created and crafted around a central worship theme, even the sermon/homily. It is highly creative and collaborative work between the clergy and laity of the Worship Team. We look to use new ways to draw people closer together and into a God encounter unlike any they have previously experienced.
The music is vast, drawing upon Traditional hymns, Contemporary songs, and Modern chart topping hits outside of the Christian canon. Every day is different, and no Sunday like the last. If you crave the unique and ever changing, then this is for you.
This service, held in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall, is Post-Contemporary and modern in musical style. It brings together secular culture and the sacred to provide a vibrant, ever-changing, and always contextually relevant experience. Be prepared to move. All ages are welcome.
