CHOIRS FALL 2016 START UP!
Our Chancel Choir resumes rehearsals Wednesday evening September 7th at 7:30! This is a wonderful time to join, as we begin learning all new music (with a couple of oldies!). Open to youth and adults, we are especially in need of sopranos and altos this year, but we can always use more tenors and basses as well. No previous experience is necessary, but if you’ve sung in a chorus before, it could always help. As well as leading worship every Sunday, and singing an anthem, the choir presents larger works with members of the Virginia Symphony twice a year, and performs show tunes at our annual “Music Extravaganza in the spring. All you need is a voice; and we even have a robe that fits you! If you are interested in joining us, you can talk to Mike Regan, (email@example.com, 489-8168) or just show up Wednesday evening, and we’ll be ready for you!!
The Cherub Choir includes children from ages 5 through the second grade. This choir has a joyful time learning easy, fun church songs for presentation in the morning worship service once a month. They rehearse on Sundays at 5:00, and the only requirement is a love of using their voices for joyful sounds (that’s usually an eay one…) Their first rehearsal will be September 11 (with a pizza party!).
The Junior Choir is open to all children in grades 3 through 6. This choir sings bigger, exciting children’s choir music, sometimes in two or three parts, and also sings in church monthly. Each year they present a Children’s Choir Musical at our annual Pot Luck Music Extravaganza. Last year’s musical, “Daniel, Chapter Six” was a great success!. They rehearse Sundays at 5:30-6:15 and also start on September 11 (also with a pizza party!).
The Larchmont Ringers is open to Youth and Adults, and we have a couple of spots open just for you! Some music reading experience is helpful (not too much….you only have two hands!). They begin rehearsals on September 15th, at 7:30pm.
The Music Ministry at Larchmont is one of the most active and respected of any in Hampton Roads.
The Chancel Choir provides worship leadership at the 11:00 service every Sunday year round, and offers two major music events annually; a Lessons and Carols service during the Advent Season, and a major work in the spring, both accompanied by members of The Virginia Symphony. In 2014, they presented John Rutter’s very moving “Requiem”, and in 2015, Handel’s “Ode. for St. Cecilia’s Day”. This year, on May 22nd, we will be offering Beethoven’s “Christ on the Mount of Olives”, with the Virginia Symphony. Although we sing some advanced music, we have members of literally all musical abilities, from beginner to professional, and everyone is invited to come and sing with us!

The Larchmont Ringers are comprised of a group of enthusiastic ringers who play in church on a regular basis, adding color and excitement to the worship. Some music reading ability is helpful, and the group performs on a 4 Octave set of Malmark bells, with 3 octaves of Malmark Handchimes.
The Cherub Choir is open to children from ages 5 through the 2 grade, and sing in worship once monthly, and at special seasons. They are taught the basics of singing, as well as the basics of having fun singing!
The Junior Choir also sings once per month, and is open to children from grades 3-6. Each spring this group presents a Christian based Musical, and in the spring of 2016 staged the musical, “Daniel, Chapter Six!”, at our annual Music Extravaganza; the story of Daniel in the Lions Den, with staging, props, sound effects, and fun!
Each spring, the Children’s Choirs and the Chancel Choir present an evening of musical entertainment with a church-wide pot supper. Now in it’s 11th year, The Music Extravaganza is always a big treat for our congregation!!
All choirs are open to anyone! Anyone can sing! Come join us!
