Music Ministry

The Cherub Choir includes children from ages 5 through the second grade. This choir has a joyful time learning easy, fun church songs for presentation in the morning worship service once a month. They rehearse on Sundays at 5:00, and the only requirement is a love of using their voices for joyful sounds (that’s usually an eay one…).

The Junior Choir is open to all children in grades 3 through 6. This choir sings bigger, exciting children’s choir music, sometimes in two or three parts, and also sings in church monthly. Each year they present a Children’s Choir Musical at our annual Pot Luck Music Extravaganza. Last year’s musical, “Daniel, Chapter Six” was a great success, and this year, on April 2nd, they will be presenting, “Babble at Babel” by Albert Zabel. They rehearse Sundays from 5:00-6:15.

The Larchmont Ringers is open to Youth and Adults, and we have a couple of spots open just for you! Some music reading experience is helpful (not too much….you only have two hands!). They rehearse on Thursday evenings at 7:30.

The Music Ministry at Larchmont is one of the most active and respected of any in Hampton Roads.

The Chancel Choir provides worship leadership at the 11:00 service every Sunday year round, and offers two major music events annually; a Lessons and Carols service during the Advent Season, and a major work in the spring, both accompanied by members of The Virginia Symphony.  On April 30th of 2017, we will be presenting the Virginia premiere of a new work by Michael Trotta.  Dr. Trotta is the former choral director at Virginia Wesleyan College, and his newly published setting of “Seven Last Words” has met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Although this choir sings some advanced music, most of our repertoire is “user friendly”, and we have members of literally all musical abilities, from beginner to professional, and everyone is invited to come and sing with us!
