SECOND BOCCE BALL CLINIC COMING IN AUGUST! If you missed the first bocce ball clinic, you have a second chance. We will hold another bocce ball clinic on Sunday, August 8th. We will start with dinner at 5:00 PM in the social hall. The bocce ball clinic will follow at 5:45 PM. Come join us for fellowship and Italian sausage and peppers, then take some time to toss a few bocce balls! Dinner will be $5 for adults with children free. You may sign up after next week’s 11:00 AM service or call Gary Chiaverotti by Thursday, August 5th, so we have enough food for all participants. Information on the Bocce rules and helpful hints are attached. Remember, we will be hosting a Larchmont UMC bocce ball tournament as part of our Spirit Sunday/100 year celebration on September 12th. Start assembling your four-person teams set now!

Life at Larchmont United Methodist Church |
|
Life at LUMC revolves around family, and we define family very broadly. Our definition includes folks who have been members for decades as well as those who entered our doors only just yesterday. In fact, some of our most active participants are Navy families who will only be with us for a few years during a Norfolk assignment. Others are from the Old Dominion University community, either students or faculty and staff. Family may mean a household of one or two, or may mean a multi-generational home. At our core are approximately 200 households who actively support the church in a multitude of ways but many other families are involved in the life of LUMC. Our overall membership is getting younger every year. |

[eLight] thanks to your support...
Attached is a photo of the Troop 24 Scouts who departed from Larchmont UMC yesterday morning for a week at summer camp (where, by the way, the daily highs will be 80 degrees, but the accommodations are rather spartan). I forward this as a shining example of what you support at our church. Chas Etheridge

[eLight] LUMC Ornaments
After doing an inventory of the LUMC ornaments, I discovered that we have 7 that were pre-ordered and never picked up. Unfortunately, due to multiple people handling the sales and pick ups, it is not possible to tell how did not receive their ornament. If you ordered one back before Christmas, and

[eLight] LUMC visitors
Today at LUMC we were treated to a visit from about a dozen sailors and marines from the HMS Ocean, the helicopter carrier of the British navy and the largest ship of the Queen's fleet. Our visitors are originally from Fiji. More than two thirds of "ethnic" Fijians are Methodist. Fiji's population is
