LUMC supports mission programs at home and abroad, through our own congregation, with other Virginia churches, and via the broader United Methodist Church.

Close to home, the church participates in NEST (the Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team), taking a turn with other area churches in housing the homeless for a week during the winter. Locally, LUMC has assisted with renovation projects in urban and rural areas of Hampton Roads.

LUMC also acts as a meeting site for a number of community activities such as our neighborhood Civic League.

Beyond our area, the youth have participated in mission projects.

We also directly support missionaries working for communities in the US and also in South America. The church supports the Tenessee-based Jubilee Project, which sponsors a shared-use kitchen cooperative for area farms.

Further, through the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, the reach of our congregation is extended across the world.
