Scott is from Virginia Beach and grew up attending Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. A graduate of Frank W. Cox High School, he earned his B.A. degree from Virginia Wesleyan College, and his Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School. He is an ordained Elder in full connection in the Virginia Annual Conference.
Scott serves on the District Committee on Ordained Ministry as the Registrar. Ever loyal to his alma mater, Scott is also the Past President of the National Alumni Council for Duke Divinity School and Past President of the Duke Alumni Association for the Virginia Annual Conference. Whenever possible, he returns to the Mecca of Durham to relive memories of Duke, particularly the infamous Laettner shot.
Scott’s other appointments have been as a Hospital Chaplain at Duke University Medical Center, Associate Pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, and Pastor of West End United Methodist Church in Portsmouth. Scott came to Larchmont as the Senior Pastor in 2007.
In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his fiancé, two boys, and a Boston Terrier named Murphy, going to the beach, surfing, bike riding, and skateboarding. He is an avid supporter of Old Dominion University’s basketball and football programs.
